During the COVID-19 pandemic thousands of people with MS remained without rehabilitation and physiotherapy sessions. This can have negative effects on their physical and mental health during and after this period. They are in (even greater) danger of suffering from anxiety, stress and depression due to the sudden impact of the situation on their daily lives.

Research supports and underlines the benefits of exercise and staying physically active for people living with Multiple Sclerosis, both in terms of disease and symptom management or quality of life. We must ensure that we keep the expected collateral damage of the lockdown to the minimum by encouraging people affected by MS to remain active.

Therefore, EMSP partnered up with MoveToSport – a Flemish non-profit organisation providing rehabilitation and physotherapy services for people with MS – and Almirall, to make the “Keep Moving with Multiple Sclerosis” online MS exercise program (created by the MoveToSport team) accessible across Europe.

The main objective of these video-exercises is to support and motivate people with MS to stay as active as possible, within their own possibilities during and after the lockdown.
