Sailing Sclerosis: Oceans of Hope boat tours continue in 2017

22.09.2016

After completing the world circumnavigation with crews of people living with multiple sclerosis (MS), the Oceans of Hope flotilla now takes on a new adventure: sailing along the Dalmatian coast.

This will be a one-week voyage starting on 13 May 2017 from Trogir, Croatia.

People with MS interested in taking part can start their application process by sending a confirmation email at oceansofhopechallenge@hotmail.com.

EMSP represented on Croatian tour

One of the first people to subscribe for this new Oceans of Hope initiative was EMSP’s former interim CEO and longstanding advisor Bettina Hausmann.

She first made contact with this project on a short sailing trip along the Oslo fjords (pictured below) organised during our 2016 Spring Conference.

Following this very brief experience Bettina took a firm decision to join the crew for a lengthier period at the earliest opportunity.

Oceans of Hope testimonies

Part of the Sailing Sclerosis project, Oceans of Hope brought together nearly 100 people with MS from 16 countries worldwide, from Iceland to Venezuela, between June 2014 and November 2015.

Here is what patient advocate Luisa Matias told EMSP after her experience:

“By sailing across the ocean and being at sea for one month, I could leave my MS behind and enjoy the experience”
