The concept and importance of MS Nurses

The MS nurse plays a key role in the interdisciplinary team that plans the treatment of a person with MS. The job of an MS nurse is crucial in helping the patient understand his/her condition and treatment options, in facilitating the management of the MS symptoms and in contributing to the patient’s adherence to treatment by being a reliable source of information. There is a need for training more MS nurses. This is what the MS Nurse PRO, with its proven track record in improving the specialisation of MS nurses, offers.

About MS Nurse Pro

The MS Nurse Pro programme is the one and only online modular educational programme in Europe for nurses who work with people with multiple sclerosis (MS) supporting the evolving role of European MS Nurses. Available in 12 languages, the online platform is now accessible to nurses in France.

The programme is led by European Multiple Sclerosis Platform and it has been developed by experts and in conjunction with IOMSN (International Organisation of MS Nurses) and RiMS (Rehabilitation in MS Experts).

With more than 7,000 nurses enrolled since the launch, MS Nurse Pro is constantly improving its reach.  To facilitate the expansion of the online curriculum, the MS Nurse Pro Steering Committee defined a clear project strategy for the coming years.

The mission of MS Nurse Pro is to support nurses in developing the right knowledge and skills to be an MS Nurse, as well as to create an agreed set of core standards that will promote consistency of practice and nursing care across Europe.

We at EMSP aim through MS Nurse Pro to increase the competency of MS Nurses in patient/family advocacy and brokerage, health education, symptom and treatment management, as well as to help them develop leadership skills for the advancement of patient care.
