On behalf of EMSP’s Conference Committee, we are delighted to invite you to Bratislava, Slovakia, for the EMSP Annual General Meeting  taking place on 7 June and the Annual Conference on 8-9 June.

The theme of the 2018 Conference is: MS Research Agenda. Moving towards a Patient Centred Approach.

Building on the success of previous EMSP conferences, the event will bring together people with MS, experts and advocates in the field, MS societies across Europe, healthcare professionals and researchers, alongside policy decision-makers.

The two days of the conference are designed to offer you an insightful and dynamic mix of presentations, panel discussions and educational workshops. Inspirational speakers will bring us up-to-date with the latest research findings that directly impact the lives of people with MS and with the ongoing MS initiatives at International and European Level. Several networking opportunities will allow us to learn from best practices in the field of patient advocacy at scientific level.

This conference, alongside your valuable participation, represents another milestone to work towards our common goal and improve the quality of life of people with MS in Europe. We are here to bring knowledge, inspire and empower!

During the first day of the conference we have the honour to welcome Dr Alan Thompson, Consultant Neurologist at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London. Dr. Thompson will talk us through the MS research agenda and the latest news in the field. As the day is focused on research, we’ll cover a broad range of topics, from progressive MS, to looking into the importance of gene and environmental factors and microbiota gut.

The second day of the conference starts with an educational workshop on Health Technology Assessment, workshop we strongly encourage you to attend. The day will continue with a heated panel debate on the Roadmap on Access to Medicines: from market authorisation to reaching patients. Policy makers, patient representatives, payers and regulators, will all contribute towards what we aim to answer some questions and find solutions to tackle the inequalities in access to MS treatments and therapies across Europe.

We are delighted to organise this conference in partnership with the MS Association of Slovakia and look forward to welcoming you to Bratislava for what promises to be yet another insightful conference with high-powered networking sessions and impactful keynote presentations.

We encourage individual patients, patient organisations, healthcare professionals, researchers, public health officials and policy-makers – and the industry – at the national, regional and European level – to attend this Conference. The EMSP conferences represent a valuable forum for the exchange and sharing of knowledge and experience in the field of multiple sclerosis.

We hope that you will find the conference and your stay in Bratislava both valuable and enjoyable.

With kind regards,
Anne Winslow
