The European Unity Walk is a unique initiative by the European Parkinson’s Disease Association (EPDA), held in 2014 in Luxembourg.

By bringing together various sections of our society – namely, people with Parkinson’s and their families, healthcare professionals and patient organisations, European policymakers, the treatment industry, the general public, and the media – the event aimed to raise the awareness of Parkinson’s disease across Europe and highlight its effects.

There are more than 1,2 million people living with Parkinson’s disease in Europe today, and this figure is set to double by 2030. Parkinson’s is a progressive, chronic neurodegenerative disease that has no known cure. Parkinson’s can affect anyone, its severity differs from person to person, and every case is different.

The economic impact of Parkinson’s in Europe is estimated at €13,9 billion per year.
